Successful year for Slovenia’s Voyo

The Slovenian streaming service Voyo, which is operated by CME’s local subsidiary Pro Plus, already has over 180,000 subscribers. All told, they watched more than 48 million hours of content last year, with Voyo originals recording more than 13.7 million views. The 48 million hours of content viewed was 8% up on the previous year and the average user watched 11,125 minutes. In total, the content on Voyo recorded more than 110 million views. An impressive 43.5 million views were recorded on Voyo by local productions - Voyo original series and local Pop TV productions, which Voyo users can watch before anyone else. The most watched series were Kitchen, followed by Camping Royals in second place with over 10 million views on Voyo, and House of Love, Teacher and Horna Dolna in third to fifth place. Voyo is available in all seven regional markets CME operates in.

 
More channels from Canal+

Canal+ will add up to 11 channels to its portfolio in Poland at the end of this month. Speaking to the local press, Canal+ Polska press officer Piotr Kaniowski said that they will be temporary and offer coverage of the 8th round of the Champions League, when up to 18 matches will be played at the same time.

 
TV first for Croatian football

The Croatian incumbent Hrvatski Telekom (HT) and Hajduk Split have launched the country’s first-ever football club TV channel. Known as Hajduk Digital TV and broadcast in HD, it will see Hajduk become the first club in Europe to show official league matches live on its channel. Hajduk Digital TV is available on HT’s OTT service MAXtv and costs €2 a month to receive.

 
Antik TV expands in Czech Republic

The Slovakian Kosice-based operator Antik Telecom has launched a new TV package aimed at viewers in the Czech Republic. Costing CZK99 (€3.92) a month and offered on its Antik TV service, Lidový includes 112 TV channels of various genres and 45 radio stations in its offer.

 
Digital switchover starts in Russia

Work has begun in Russia to transfer existing digital TV transmitters from the 694-790 MHz to 470-694 MHz bands in order to help develop 5G services. According to local reports, it is being undertaken by the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, together with participants in the telecom and TV and radio broadcasting market. Russia completed the transition to digital broadcasting in 2019,

 
Veon appoints new committee members

The global digital operator Veon has made additional appointments to its Group Executive Committee (GEC). Effective January 1, Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz and the Chair of Mobilink Bank in Pakistan, and Evgeniy Nastradin, CEO of Beeline Kazakhstan, became members of the GEC in addition to their country CEO responsibilities. Veon is a key player in Ukraine, where its interests include Kyivstar, the country’s leading mobile operator and also a provider of TV services.
